Brandy Meisheid, a Linn County supervisor, was at the hospital for an induction when her sister Allison Sweeney’s water broke. Advertisement “When she got to the hospital, we knew that she had an appointment that morning. So we almost thought it was a prank that they were at labor and delivery instead of at her appointment, but it didn’t take long to figure out that they weren’t joking,” Meisheid said. Meisheid’s son Miles was born at 5:48 p.m., followed by Sweeney’s son Cohen at 6:17 p.m. “It was really cool to call Mom and tell her. Our cousin twins are about to arrive,” Sweeney said. This wasn’t the family’s first closely timed arrival this year. The sisters’ two other siblings had their babies in June, just three days apart. All four sisters had been pregnant at the same time. “Being a family of all daughters, we’ve always dreamed of being pregnant at the same time, and even that itself was a miracle just given where we’re all at in the stages of life,” Meisheid said. The sisters live near each other and often share the ups and downs of raising young families, including late-night texts that new parents know well. “We call each other. We text in the middle of the night. Are you up? How’s, you know, what, how’s this going? How’s that going? So I think it’s not just special for our children, but it’s really special for us as parents,” Meisheid said. Adding to the excitement, the family’s calendar is already packed with birthdays. Meisheid said six of the family’s 18 birthdays fall in October. “It’s really exciting just to hang out on the weekends and kind of watch them grow and share milestones and things like that,” Sweeney said.
